About Us
Welcome to Beacon Pilates
At Beacon Pilates, we teach classical Pilates to the Hudson Valley the way Joseph Pilates intended it. We pride ourselves on our rigorous and empathetic practice of Pilates in a relaxed studio atmosphere.
Our instruction is focused on improving body alignment for overall strength and stability as well as our clients’ individual needs. Both studios offer individually focused instruction by keeping class sizes small. We also offer live and recorded online classes that allow our clients the flexibility to train at home and away.
Our History
Beacon Pilates was founded in Beacon, New York in 2006 by Juliet Harvey, a classically certified Pilates instructor with over 20 years’ experience. Harvey was mat and apparatus certified by Power Pilates in 1999 and 2001 respectively. Her Pilates mentors are the late Bob Liekens, Phoebe Higgins, Susan Moran-Sheehy, and Peter Roel. Harvey is also the creator of the Beacon Pilates Teacher Training program, our mat and apparatus classical Pilates certification program. And most recently we have expanded to include virtual Pilates instruction, including live mat and apparatus classes online and new video-on-demand offerings.

Maria Cepeda
Pilates Teacher

My love for learning and educating has led me to different paths in my wellness journey. My interest in Pilates began with a foundation in self care. As an educator for the past 17 years, I have realized the importance of maintaining a balance between mind and body.

Fostering that belief, I completed a yoga teacher certification program and became a yoga instructor.
Soon after I was introduced to Pilates. It was then that I discovered Pilates which I now have added to my personal wellness journey. Pilates paved a new road that allowed me to connect and condition my body as a whole. As I continue my comprehensive training and mentorship at Beacon Pilates, I intend to deliver the message that Joe Pilates has shared with his apprentices “the mind, when housed within a healthful body, possesses a glorious sense of power.

Angela then trained at Balanced Body with Ann Toran, Joy Karley, and Fabrice Lamego and was certified by Polestar Education in 2009 with Brent Anderson. She became a teacher at “Pilates Reforming NY” in New York City where her clients included Broadway performers, Radio City Rockettes, and NYC marathoners.
