After experiencing the benefits from regularly attending Pilates classes, Shannon's curiosity in the exercise method grew. This interest led her to study the Pilates method in depth for her final senior project. For two years Shannon had the privilege of studying the classical system under Bob Liekens, Phoebe Higgins, Susan Moran-Perich and many other senior instructors at Power Pilates. Shannon is a certified Pilates teacher through Power Pilates in New York City since 2005.
Jennifer Colandrea is a certified Pilates Teacher with Power Pilates in NYC and its affiliate studio Beacon Pilates, in Beacon, NY. She quickly saw her dancing improve as a direct result of the strength, stability, and increased range of motion achieved through a regular Pilates practice. In 2008, Jennifer completed Power Pilates Beginner Mat Certification and the comprehensive program with Juliet Harvey in 2009.
Angela Helland fell in love with dance at an early age and hasn't stopped moving since. She is thrilled to be teaching at Beacon Pilates. She graduated from Hamline University with a BA in Anthropology. Afterward she pursued a career in professional dance; first in Minneapolis,MN, then in Boulder, CO, and finally in New York City. Her introduction to Pilates in 2001 came at an important moment, as it helped her recover from a dance injury and led to a much greater understanding of the working and moving body. In addition to teaching the core principles of classical Pilates, Angela draws from her background of yoga, anatomy, and wellness education. She strongly believes all movement is therapy and loves working with all ages and abilities. Training with Juliet Harvey, Angela became a Certified Pilates Instructor through Power Pilates in 2013.
